Radio host Hank Thompson copied Suggs on a blistering note he sent to Brown regarding his column on Sunday. Hank said, “Your positions are predictable, transparent and most of all hypocritical. You show absolutely no growth or ability to move beyond your failed Take Five experience.”

There’s more: “Your constant harping about the role that Mayor Slay might have played in the election of the ‘03 reform slate is both misleading and insulting to African-American leadership. As one who was very much involved with the election of that slate, I was more than proud to remind voters that this was an African American-inspired initiative. Ronald Jackson and Howard Denson urged The Black Leadership Roundtable to take some actions in regards to a failing public school district. Dr. Donald Suggs and that group took the leadership role in bringing this most serious issue to the mayor and to the community.”

Hank names some names: “It was you and your cohorts Lizz Brown and Percy Green who helped bring about state intervention by encouraging the election of Donna Jones and Peter Downs to the school board. Percy, who is a dear friend, should be ashamed of himself for allowing his personal feud with Slay to cloud his judgement and cause him to make himself null and void in the efforts to save our black children from a life of misery.”

A parting shot from Hank: “Try to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem – there is too much at stake – and also stop hating on Dr. Suggs and the American because they were able be successful and you were not.”
