They say this has been the second month in a row that the city NAACP’s executive committee hasn’t had enough people in attendance for a quorum. Without a quorum, a branch is prohibited from voting on business action items essential in keeping the branch operating.
City branch Vice President Claude Brown, who has turned against Crumpton’s management style of late, is still trying to get the branch’s special audit committee to find out who deposited some checks which should have been directed to the branch’s banking account. Unfortunately, Crumpton recently hosted a general membership meeting of about 10 people, hardly enough to get any critical support for any change.
Mayor Francis G. Slay’s recent rival Deneen Busby, Majic’s news director, got props as the keynoter with kids-today stuff like: “Our youngsters can stand in line all day to buy some designer’s tennis shoes, but will not stay in line to vote.”
