Illinois state Senator James Clayborne has joined the Board of Directors of Logos School.

Logos, located at 9137 Old Bonhomme, is an independent, therapeutic middle and high school that provides care to adolescents who struggle in a traditional school setting.

“We provide an unparalleled opportunity for teens through a unique combination of individualized academics, innovative therapy and strong parental involvement,” the school said in a statement.

The school’s website declares, “We help kids with challenges succeed.”

Among these challenges, it lists: Adolescent Autism, Anxiety, ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, Chemical Dependency, Depression, Eating Disorders, Low Self-Esteem, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Poor Motivation, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Tourette Syndrome.

Since its inception in September of 1970, Logos School has graduated more than 1400 students and has helped hundreds more mainstream to traditional schools.

Logos School consistently serves 150 students daily. In all, it serves approximately 250 adolescents throughout the year. Each one comes to Logos with significant problems and great potential. Because of the school’s year-round open enrollment, some graduate from Logos and others return to traditional school environments.

An attorney who is a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson (Belleville), Clayborne has served in the Illinois Legislature since 1995. He is a former St. Claire County Assistant State’s Attorney and earned his law degree at the University of Miami.

His Senate committee assignments include Senate Committee of the Whole; Environment and Energy (Chairperson); Executive; Executive Appointments; Insurance; Pensions and Investments; and Special Committee on Impeachment Procedure.
