HOPE Autism Expo

St. Louis County Library will host a Community Autism Expo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Florissant Valley Branch. Information will be available for families with children on the autism spectrum, representatives from area organizations will discuss their services, and library staff will share resources available at the library. The Expo is free and open to the public.

The Florissant Valley Branch is located at 195 New Florissant Rd., South. Florissant, MO 63031.

Attendees will learn about services and resources available for individuals and their families, especially for young adults who are navigating their entrance to adulthood. Participating local support agencies include:

Artists First; Autism & Behavioral Spectrum; BJC HealthCare; Easter Seals Midwest; Freddie Ford Family Foundation; Judevine Center for Autism; The Leadership School; Legal Services of Eastern Missouri – Children’s Legal Alliance Program; LifeBridge Partnership; Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education; and Missouri Parents Act (MPACT).

Also scheduled to participate are:

Navigate STL Schools; soQuiet; Special School District of St. Louis County; SLU – Interdisciplinary Center for Autism Services; Starkloff Disability Institute; STLCC-Florissant Valley – Access Office; St. Louis Arc; and UMSL – Office of Inclusive Post Secondary Education (OIPE).

Attendees will also learn more about resources available at the library such as Sensory Story Time, which provides a soothing environment for children to enjoy a story and other fun activities. SLCL also provides Sensory Bags to help lessen sensory overload for kids and adults during visits to the library.
