The St. Louis American’s
Newspaper In Education (NIE)
Program
Golden Apple Award
Awarded to one outstanding teacher, each semester, who is consistently and successfully using The St. Louis American’s NIE program in his/her classroom, with tangible results.
During the 2012-2013, The St. Louis American will accept nominations for area teachers who are using The St. Louis American’s Newspaper In Education program in their classroom. Each semester, an independent panel of judges will select one outstanding educator who is going above and beyond at using The St. Louis American’s STEM page and newspaper in his/her classroom each week.
The winning educator will be recognized individually at a surprise presentation at his/her school, where representatives from The St. Louis American will personally present a Golden Apple Award to the winning educator. In addition, the teacher will receive a $250 Visa Gift Card for additional supplies/resources for his/her classroom.
The Golden Apple Award recipient will also be photographed and featured in The St. Louis American newspaper, and will be recognized and honored with a special plaque at the annual Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship & Awards Gala in September.
