I must take issue with George R. Cotton in “Stop blaming the Latino.” While much of what Mr. Cotton sets forth is historically accurate, his primary conclusion (“‘fear over illegal immigration’ is little more that a carefully articulated scare tactic by many who see the browning of America as a tragic threat to unearned white privilege” ) is off the mark.

That illegal immigration is a multi-faceted problem in America is a hard, cold fact. Marginalizing the concerns regarding illegal immigrants as “little more than a carefully articulated scare tactic” certainly is not helpful to those addressing the problem.

Immigrants who come to this country legally should be welcomed. The benefits they receive from our government (if any) are subject to debate. Those who enter America illegally are law breakers and should be treated accordingly, regardless of their nationality or skin color.
