Our news media continually inform us, because of the doctrine of separation of church and state, members of Congress must ignore their religious beliefs when arriving at decisions for government operations. If that is true, why are we “one nation under God” and “In God we trust”?

The “2007 Annual Megacensus of Religion reports 243,422,700 or 81 percent of our citizens are Christians. Simply put, that 81 percent believe in God and are called upon “to do good” (obey the Ten Commandments) and avoid evil (The Seven Deadly Sins).

It is logical to believe that the 81 percent pertains to all elected representatives, so their accountability to God at the end of life behooves them to consider all laws in the light of God’s law when deciding what’s best for our citizens.

At age 87, I can assure you, I constantly “review” my past as I “see the light at the end of my tunnel,” just like some of my peers.

Republicans, Democrats and Independents must remember there are no politics or reputations to help your accountability to God at the time of death. “Just the facts,” as Sgt. Friday says.
