Billie Boykins is now in a better place and will no longer suffer from health-related issues. She lived an abundant life being a devoted mother and
a wonderful friend who was committed to her community and public
service. She attempted to help anyone and everyone in need.
Every once in awhile you meet someone and you click right off with them
Immediately, and that is what happened with Billie and her sister Terri
when I first arrived to Jefferson City in 1994. It was at random that we met and became friends. Billie and Terri would invite me to dinner after work and introduce me to their family and friends. On weekends we would play cards and poker and enjoyed each other company.
When it was time for me to relocate to Jefferson City with my family, I
introduced Billie and Terri to my wife. I was not sure this was a
positive thing because they decided we should move in the same complex
where they lived. Of course, the two sisters often bragged about how
well they could cook. My wife liked to brag as well. The two sisters
soon realized that my wife could “really” cook. Billie and VA spent
many hours and many days cooking meals together, transporting meals from
house to house.
The meals from Billie’s table will always be missed.
Billie was a good friend of mine as well as my family. Her friendship
can never be replaced; she will be truly missed by me and my family; and
by all of us.
