Bernie Hayes’ faceless heroes article was so POWERFUL! It’s exactly what African Americans need right now. Our legacy is being mocked and dehumanized constantly in the midst of this brilliant young president’s tenure in office. It’s as if the opposition is daring us to react.
I have to admit I have been so emotionally challenged by some of the over-the-top rhetoric, to the point I find myself desperately depressed. Depressed at a time when all African Americans should be feeling some kind of joyous pride. More than anything I think that is what has been taken away, the wonderment that we should be feeling.
Your article, Bernie, gives me strength. It shows what mass media can do and why it is so important that we OWN our OWN MEDIA. We have to tell our own story, because if we don’t people like BECK and PALIN will re-write OUR story.
