In Lewis Reed, we are fortunate to have a young, qualified, articulate African-American man who has proven his abilities as alderman for almost eight years. He is willing to continue his life as a public servant, and the same old black folks that whined and cried about equality and empowerment are suddenly shaking in their boots. What’s up? Has this young man come on too strong? Is it obvious that he is backed by both black and white?

This is what you claimed you’ve been praying, whining and crying for all these years. For the first time in the city of St. Louis, you could have an African-American comptroller and president of the Board of Alderman at the same time. Two of the three members of the Board of Estimate and Apportionment would be African Americans. That is real political power.

To all of my senior registered voters, who have been crying and whining and fighting for African-American participation – do not be afraid. Stop making excuses! The candidate is qualified and willing to serve. He is young, hardworking and trustworthy. He’s the best candidate for the job. Vote March 6: Lewis Reed for president of the Board of Aldermen!
