We can be thankful for a group of Mastercard employees in O’Fallon, MO, who saved the life of coworker Scott Dankenbring when he collapsed after sudden cardiac arrest. Earlier this year, Richard Pender, Tim Kerr, Andrew Hunn and Brian Howell all worked together using CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to restore Scott’s heart rhythm.
Our gratitude goes out to volunteers like Al Boucher, of Fairview Heights, IL, who on four separate occasions this year, left at a moment’s notice to help disaster victims in southern Missouri, North Dakota, Arkansas and Georgia.
And we are indebted to people like Cindy Zehner of Kirkwood, who provide care and comfort to military veterans at local hospitals, and teach deploying military members and their families how to send emergency messages to a loved one overseas.
Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, the American Red Cross is buoyed by the spirit of volunteerism, compassion and generosity that is a hallmark of the St. Louis community.
With your help, we positively touched the greater St. Louis community more than 930,000 times in the past year. We trained tens of thousands in disaster preparedness and emergency response techniques, helped Holocaust victims trace lost family members, and kept seniors living independently in their homes with our Lifeline emergency notification service. We reunited military families facing personal crises, staffed hundreds of blood drives, educated people of all ages, and prepared dozens of teens to be tomorrow’s volunteer leaders.
On behalf of the American Red Cross, thank you for your ongoing support and commitment.
