The most refreshing part of reading the American are the articles on outstanding black youth and their accomplishments. Other media only highlight the criminal activities and poor behaviors of a minority group of blacks, which most of us wish could just go away.
There are so many intelligent, hard-working young black people in our neighborhoods, who never get their proper recognition in the community at large. This is very unfortunate, but these aspiring young people continue to persevere.
Black adults from all over the country should put forth as much effort in praising and openly supporting the best of black children, as they do those caught on the wrong side of the law, because they are our real future.
