People should find the death of Robert Douglas as egregious as the shooting death of Trayvon Martin; Lee Enterprises (owner of the Post-Dispatch) as guilty as George Zimmerman.

Douglas was by many accounts a respectable, responsible man who managed his meager finances with the care and compassion that he bestowed on others and his pets during his 59 years. He died of a treatable illness because his health insurance was taken from him by a corporate assassin. The thugs at Lee Enterprises “pulled the trigger” on Mr. Douglas as surely as Zimmerman pulled the trigger of the 9mm pistol that sent a bullet into Trayvon Martin’s chest.

The corporate privileged at Lee Enterprises probably have a plethora of seemingly plausible reasons as to why the Robert Douglases of America must die in order to fulfill the insatiable financial needs of their company. After all, the desires of the 1 percent must be met while America spirals into moral decay.

Lee Enterprises and their corporate brethren are not doing, and are not interested in doing, good things for the least of the brothers and sisters of Christ. Thus it is up to government to protect its citizens. The Affordable Care Act is a step in the right direction.
