The tea party movement was all the rage leading up to the election. This so-called grass-roots party broadcast a mantra of giving America back to the people. It proclaimed its mandate for a balanced budget, no increase in taxes, the end of earmarks, et al.
Some suggested the movement signaled a shift in mainstream politics. It certainly scared both the Republican and Democratic parties. Question: where is the tea party now?
I haven’t heard much from the tea party since the Republicans pushed through a $700 billion tax break for the country’s wealthiest 1-2 percent. How does this tax break for the country’s wealthiest few fit in with what the tea party was espousing throughout the run up to the election?
As they say in the hood, the tea party got pimped!
