The Political EYE item regarding Organization for Black Struggle supporting Jim Shrewsbury over Lewis Reed in the race for the president of the Board of Aldermen is far from the truth. OBS has not officially endorsed either candidate.

The idea of the American accusing us of supporting a white candidate over a black one is absurd, especially when the American supported Francis G. Slay, a white candidate who has shown no interest in the city’s North Side, over Irene J. Smith. And let us not forget how the American turned its back on attorney Jerryl T. Christmas when he made two bids for the St. Louis circuit attorney office, again choosing a white candidate.
