Law firm partners with church to feed the needy
Special to the American
For the first time in many years pastor John Wesley Haynes and his congregation discovered that they would not be able to provide a Christmas meal for the people of their community. Located in North St. Louis, the church – although facing its own difficulties – continues to help the community by providing food, clothing and emergency support to keep the gas and electric on for less fortunate families. The church also cares for the homeless individuals who arrive on their doorstep almost daily.
With a most energetic 80-year-old pastor, a superb gospel choir and a church that serves its people from the heart, Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and its community could use all the help it can get this Christmas season and beyond. That’s when Terry Crouppen, principal of Brown & Crouppen law firm and others rallied to help the Rev. Haynes feed the people of his community. On Dec. 17 they gathered at the church, 4457 Martin Luther King Dr., to personally hand out 200 turkeys to the community and people of the Mt. Sinai MB church. Not to forget the kids, each child received Christmas candy. In addition, Brown & Crouppen provided the funding for the church Christmas meal, which was served that same day. Brown & Crouppen also donated a much-needed cooking stove for the church kitchen. This is the third year the firm has provided such support to the church.
“We believe in the strength of our communities and our commitment to help support our fellow citizens,” said Crouppen. “This is why Brown & Crouppen is thankful for the opportunity to work with the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and provide Christmas turkeys for those in need.”
