The St. Louis Progressive District Association and the Williams-Nance Foundation will observe the 143rd Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation at 3 p.m. Sunday Jan. 1 at the Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 1617 N. Euclid.
The keynote speaker will be the Rev. F. James Clark, pastor and founder of Shalom City of Peace Church. Music will be performed by the St. Louis Progressive District Mass Choir.
The Rev. Curtis Crosby is moderator and the Rev. Earl E. Nance, Jr., is host pastor.
