Prize giveaways, refreshments, book and CD signings were among some of the events highlighting the Grand Opening of the Genesis I Bookstore, which took place on Sunday, July 1.

There were book signings with local artists such as Bishop Luther J. Blackwell Jr., Ph.D., founder and pastor of Mega Church in Cleveland, OH and pastor of San Francisco Temple C.A. in St. Louis, who wrote a book called, The Power to Get Wealth which discusses the biblical and practical principles related to the acquisition and use of wealth, and with Angelita F. Jackson, Graphic Artist of the St. Louis American, who wrote two books called, True Worship, It’s A Lifestyle! and 84lbs Lighter and Loving It!

St. Louis’ own gospel singer, Cheneta Jones autographed CDs which debuted at No. 13 in Billboard Sales Charts called, Be Like You.

Members, surrounding churches and the community were invited to attend the weekend celebration. The ceremony, which was held at 10185 Halls Ferry Road, took place live on KXEN Radio Station. There were special remarks from Bishop Luther J. Blackwell Jr.

“The bookstore has the latest products and technology, with materials that are conducive to studying, reading and listening in a relaxed environment,” said Bishop Blackwell.

“The public loves coffee, as Starbuck’s has proven. What a better way for St. Louis to start their day than with their favorite book accompanied by their favorite drink at their favorite bookstore.”

“It provides a wide range of Christian books and products for both adults and children, bibles, contemporary and traditional music, gifts, stationary, Sunday School supplies, greeting cards, church supplies, clergy attire, usher accessories, CDs and DVDs,” said Kay Ross.

“I was overwhelmed with the brighter colors, completely new architectural changes, and contemporary looks,” said Andrew L. Thomas III.

The overall look was just marvelous. When one steps into the bookstore the bright orange and yellow colors and of course the food draws you directly to the eating area in where Wi-Fi internet connections are available, Starbucks products are served, small businesses and book clubs can hold their meetings.

“The vision for the progression of San Francisco Temple C.A. is to be a church that is relevant to the 21st century,” said Bishop Blackwell. “Wherever there is sin, to create a program that has a solution.”

He describes his ministry as charismatic, contemporary, revelational, specializing in typology (The Old Testament). Saving of souls and spiritual growth of the saints is what he enjoys most about the ministry.

“A good pastor is one who listens, understands, remains true to the Word, yet who is not judgmental of those who detour the reform,” said Bishop Blackwell. “Right now we are resurrecting the ministries that our founder, Bishop Dwight H. McDaniels Jr. left, re-purposing others, after which new ministries will be created.”
