The St. Louis community at large said goodbye to Christopher Ramey this weekend. Chris, also known to those that knew him well, as “Pee Wee”, played a very important part in the gospel community locally and was a member of The Gospel Music Workshop of America. Chris worked affectionately with the youth department at GMWA. Chris also assisted most notably, Merdean Gales national board member GMWA and mentor who guided and groomed him in the gospel scene which gave him the opportunity to work with many in the gospel music arena. Chris loved gospel music. Chris was a member of the Kennerly Temple COGIC where Bishop R. J. Ward was his pastor. A void will be left in the gospel community at large where he was often seen managing the stage at many local gospel events.

Terri Gold , president of the St. Louis and East St. Louis Gospel Announcers Guild GMWA says , “Chris was always busy, I remember working with him during the American Heart Associations Power To End Stroke conferences and with many events with Elder Petey Madison State Minister of Music of the Church of God In Christ”. Chuck Spearman , president of the State of Missouri Gospel Announcers Guild GMWA says ” Chris touched so many lives and I’m sure those he touched will have their own special memories, but as I reflect back on Chris involvement in this years King celebration, Chris took the microphone and delivered one of the most profound speeches dealing with human rights and condition, you never would have thought he would be gone within days. Chris left us all too soon, he certainly left his mark as one of the highlights of that celebration”.

The musical tribute took place Sunday February 17 at 6:PM evening at the Rhema Church 2233 Cass AVE. where the reverend Norman Owens Jr. is the pastor.

The official services took place with a 10:AM viewing and service at 12 Noon Monday February 18 at the Kennerly Temple Church of God In Christ 4307 Kennerly Ave. St. Louis MO.
