Church of the Master, United Church of Christ, at 1325 Paddock Drive in Florissant, invites the community to its Bright Sunday music festival. It begins at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday, June 12.
Two vocal choirs and a bell choir will present a musical celebration promoting racial harmony and peace.
For the musical selections, the Chancel Choir will sing “Rise and Shine” and “Shall We Gather at the River,” older spirituals with a distinct beat. It will also perform three new spirituals, “Climbing up the Mountain,” “I Shall Wear a Crown” and “This is My Word.”
The Men’s choir will be singing “Soon I Will be Done” and “‘Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus.” The Bell Choir will perform “Down to the River to Pray” with a flute obligato and “O Waly, O Waly” with a violin obligato.
“This is a wonderfully uplifting festival of music which we are proud to offer to our community,” said Pastor Dennis Lindberg. “I invite everyone to come. No matter who, no matter what, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you will be welcomed here.”
Immediately following the ceremony, there will be an hor d’oeuvres reception. Dress in bright, casual clothes and bring an appetite.
Church of the Master is located one block west of the Florissant Civic Center at the corner of Paddock and Parker. For more information, call (314) 921-3344.
