A man who has held many professional titles in the public relations field, Randy L. Jones believes that his faith has taken him in the direction he has followed. Currently, Jones is director of public relations at Joyce Meyer Ministries.
“I’m a strong, faith-based person,” Jones said.
“Whatever God has for me, is for me. My faith is very important to me.”
Recently Jones moved to St. Louis to take his new position while his family remains in Detroit.

Less than a year ago, when Jones was between jobs, he started his own consulting firm, as public relations/communications strategist at 1 Voice Communications. In the past Jones was communications manager at Chrysler, manager of public relations at Daimler Chrysler and public affairs/media relations consultant at FEMA.
Jones started off working for New Jersey Transit as a senior communication services coordinator. He helped New Jersey Transit grow into one of the largest transit agencies in the nation.
When Jones witnessed the September 11 attack, he realized how appreciative he was for his life. Jones knew he could have easily been in that building. He also was amazed how quickly everyone came together to help. He was part of FEMA as a public affair and media relations consultant, during the disaster.
He said he felt “a lot of uncertainty, in the early days, witnessing this through the naked eye. Within 24 hours our command center was up and running. On any given day I could have been there through the many business relationships I had.”
Jones has a passion in helping a company or organization and building a strong positive image for them.
“I’ve worked my way up and through other opportunities. Each one learning, taking and building on it to develop to be a seasoned, experienced professional,” Jones said.
“It is a certain level of passion, being able to shape, change, mold and share messages.”
Jones is also a passionate musician and vocalist.
“The real identifier of who I am is my music. Outside of St. Louis, people know me for my music first and public relations second,” Jones said.
Missionary Society Annual Day
On Sunday, May 16 all area missionaries and the general public are invited to Lane Tabernacle C.M.E. Church’s Missionary Society Annual Day.
“It’s a day of reflection and re-dedication for all of us to focus on the missions and service we are called to do,” said Maxine Day, president.
It begins with a morning worship service at 10 a.m., at the church, located at 910 N. Newstead at Enright. All visiting missionaries are asked to arrive early, so that they may enter together in the dramatic Procession in White. There will also be an emotional missionary renewal and re-dedication ceremony.
At 2:30 p.m., another Procession in White kicks off an afternoon of music and praise dance performances with Austin Layne and others.
But the main focus will be on saying thank you. “It’s a time to honor the efforts of the members of the society and other members of Lane who support our overall mission at the church, in the community and abroad,” said Day.
Honorees will be awarded, leading to the dramatic moment when the Missionary of the Year will be revealed.
The chairpersons for The Missionary Society Annual Day are Mrs. Katie Garrison, Mrs. Carrie Bell, and Mrs. Ann Jacox.
Lane First Lady Mrs. Lisha Morris serves as missionary liaison officer. The Rev. James T. Morris is pastor. The presiding elder is the Rev. Q.H. Whitlock Jr. and the Rev. Paul A.G. Stewart Sr. is the presiding prelate.
