Minister Madeline Long Gill has heard her share of sadness and grief. So she decided to create a place where women could relax and concentrate on cultivating a deeper sense of spirituality and balance. The result is Woman Heal Thyself at Sea, which sets sail for the Bahamas October 12.

“As a minister, I hear a lot of pain and suffering,” said Long Gill. “I wanted to do something fun and relaxing that women could enjoy while they begin the process of truly releasing that pain.”

Long Gill said the release she hopes women of all ages and backgrounds will experience is from the pain and guilt of past problems, physical ailments and deferred dreams. She said after that release comes a new freedom to pursue the fruitful and productive life she said that God wants for all of His children.

“After a health scare last year, I realized that I was simply going through the motions,” Long Gill said. “I truly did not want to live until I thought I was going to die. That was a turning point for me.”

At that moment, she said she simply asked God not for more time on earth to enjoy selfish pleasures, but to live the life that she was meant to live.

“I remember praying and asking God to heal me,” she said. “And what came to me was ‘your faith has healed you, go in peace.’ At that moment I knew that I wasn’t the only person that had had that experience.”

From that point on, Long Gill said, “My mission became develop a conference that would address the needs of the whole woman and to equip her with the tools necessary to begin healing from the inside out at sea.”

“Since water represents purification, I thought it would be awesome to take a conference of healing to the water,” she said.

And although the conference was designed with women in mind, Long Gill said many of the women who have already registered are making reservations for their spouses as well. And what participants can expect is a weekend jam packed with praise, worship and spiritual teachings to nourish the hungry soul.

Long Gill said, “Scriptures say that Jesus said, ‘Go, and let others come.’”

“Jesus said that because He knew that those that he touched were already healed and released,” she said. “I pray that our cruise will give women the same experience. Our expectations are that their lives will be forever changed.”
