A Tribute to the Legacy of David Peaston was held Saturday, February 11 at Shalom (City ofPeace) Church .

Peaston passed Wednesday, February 1, 2012 of complications from diabetes at the age of 54. His death was international news, covered by the Washington Post and the Hollywood Reporter and many other media.

TheSumnerHigh Schoolgraduate and former St. Louis Public Schools educator honed his talent on some of the biggest stages inSt. Louis, following in the footsteps of his mother Martha Bass and his big sister Fontella Bass.

He went on to be a national sensation at the Apollo Theatre and sign a deal with Geffen Records, releasing two R&B records and one gospel album.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Des Peres will host an Organ Concert 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at the church,12345 Manchester Roadin Des Peres.

Music at St. Paul’s will welcome Faythe Freese, Professor of Organ at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Freese holds degrees in organ performance and church music from Indiana University, Bloomington. She has held faculty positions at Indiana University and Concordia University, Austin, Texas. Among her music publications is Sonus Novus: Intonations and Harmonizations (Concordia Publishing House).

St. Paul’s Institute of Theology presents World Religions Through Christian Eyes 7 p.m. Thursdays through March 15 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 12345 Manchester Road in Des Peres. Russell Dawn,St. Paul’s member and professor of religion atLindenwoodUniversity, will discuss Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and other non-Christian religions through the lens of Biblical Christianity.
