St. John AME Church, 1908 N. Kingshighway, is celebrating Women’s Day with a prayer brunch and fashion show Saturday, September 9 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 2831 N. Kingshighway at 11 a.m. Donations are $25
The celebration will culminate on Sunday, September 17 with a Health Fair and American Red Cross Blood Drive at St. John at 1 p.m.

Gifted Productions is searching to cast multi-cultural actors, singers and dancers of all ages for a story that takes place in Bethlehem the day Christ was born. Auditions will be held on a first-come basis Saturday, September 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The International Institute, 3654 S. Grand (at Winnebago). Actors will be required to perform a one-minute monologue and read from a script. Singers should be prepared to sing a two-minute song and bring a CD or tape of music for your routine.
