“Truly I tell you, whoever say to this mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the sea and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for Him. For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will get it.” Mark 11: 23-24 (Amplified Bible)

There is power in prayer. As believers who live by the word we can speak a request out of our mouths in faith and know that God is going to respond with a corresponding answer. God has made numerous promises in His word. Because of Who He is, there is no way that He can lie. God promised to grant the request that we make in prayer.

If God is Who He says He is and we are now His children filled with His presence and endowed with His power, we can change situations. It does not matter how negative a situation might be, if we go to God in prayer as believers, God has promised to hear and answer.

There is such a need right now throughout our country for the people who really know their God to be praying. There is power in prayer. I believe if we really understood the power that is available to us no one would have to plead with you to pray. Whenever there is a crisis in the land most people spend time focusing in on the crisis and not the desired outcome. We are a reactive people and not proactive.

Most believers love God but know very little about His power living in them. There is some knowledge that His power is available to His children but very few know how to release His power out of their lives. Because of this lack of knowledge, we suffer unnecessary and prolonged defeat. We are actually getting what we say.

The crisis that exist in the Gulf Coast has impacted the entire world. Many people are asking why did God allow this to happen. I believe God is asking why didn’t His children know that they have been given the power to changed things that exist in the earth.

My entire family has been affected by Katrina and Rita. They are now spread out over seven states. But, because of continuous prayer, all of them are safe and God is working on behalf of our prayers to meet all of their needs. My sister ‘s house received no water or serious wind damage even though many houses in surrounding areas were flooded yet, they received no water or wind damage. Before leaving their home she and her husband and other family members stopped and prayed asking God to protect their home. By faith they spoke a Blood line around their home and asked for protection for their entire neighborhood. One of her sons stayed behind and God protected Him and provided for Him throughout the entire time when there was no lights or water. Someone immediately brought him a generator. Neighbors in the community who also stayed behind came together and cooked outside and shared their food. They were able to get bottled water and no hurt, harm or danger came near their dwelling place.

Even though other family members are spread out over seven states God is providing for them. As we stand in prayer daily asking for doors to be open and for me to be able to communicate with them, I am able to get through to them by phone.

I am now asking God to show me how He wants me to help my family members who did lose their homes. I know that God has a plan for restoration and recover. Through prayer I will receive the answer. It is time out for just talking about the problem. We must become solution oriented, doers of God’s word.

God already knows about the devastation. What He needs is faithfilled believers who will stand in prayer asking for His miraculous power to be manifested in the earth. This can only happen if we who are His children will prayer and exercise the authority given to us by Jesus Christ.

One day of prayer will help but it is not enough. We must be willing to pray daily. Our words spoken in faith have power. Begin today to pray for those who have lost everything. Pray that they will trust God and believe for restoration. Pray for open doors and for strength to wait for the change to come. Pray for those in authority that they will cut out the red tape and move to meet the physical needs of those who are homeless, without resources and in need of health care and jobs.

The people of God have been given the power to bind and loose on the earth. This is our authority given by God. It is time to loose victory and success and bind up failure and fear. Living in every believer is God’s power. It is up to each person to make a decision to release that Power. Prayer is the way to release God’s power out of your life. All of us that were not directly affected by the Hurricane can make a difference. You can pray and know that your prayers have power. There is more power than you will ever know in the spoken word. Stop talking about the devastation and begin to speak forth the fulfillment of the needs of the people. Pray for their faith to be increased. Pray for help to come into their lives. Pray that God’s peace will continuously be manifested through their lives.

It is time for the people of God to walk in the authority and power given them by God. Prayer will change a situation from a negative to a positive. You may not get your name in the paper, receive an award for your efforts, but God knows. While you are interceding and standing in the gap for others, God will meet all of your needs. Stop complaining and start trusting God. Let’s stand together in prayer for our sisters and brothers and watch God move through the power of our prayers and do “superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think, infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams.”
