” As Jesus went into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, begging Him, And saying, Lord my servant boy is lying at the house paralyzed and distressed with intense pains, And Jesus said to him, I will come and restore him, but the centurion replied to Him, Lord I am not worthy or fit to have You come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured.”
Matt.8:5-8 (Amplified Bible)
Words have power. Every word that is spoken out of your mouth will eventually produce either a positive or negative harvest. When there is limited or no knowledge of the power of the words that we speak the tongue being an unruly member in our bodies is left to speak whatever it desires.
God’s word is filled with insight into the power of our words. We know that there is life or death in the power of our tongue. The word lets us know that we become entangled by the words of our mouths. We are justified or condemned by the words of our mouths. He tells us we can have what we say. Even with the many scriptures that reveal to us that there is power in our words, many fail to watch what they say.
The scripture for this week gives the believer real insight into the power of words. The centurion tells Jesus there is no need for Him to come under his roof. This man understood the power of words. He understood that once a word is spoken in faith it will find its destination. Because of this knowledge and understanding, he was confident in telling Jesus, just speak the word only.
What are you speaking on a daily basis? What kind of words come forth out of your mouth? Are you careful to speak life,
success and the abundant life out of your spirit so that nothing but good will follow you all the days of your life? God has promised that goodness and mercy would follow you all the days of your life. What is following you? Are you experienced the good of the land? Have you entered into the promise land. Are God’s blessing overflowing in your life? If the answer to these questions is no, it may because you are speaking failure and defeat into your life.
God has promised that you can have what you say. You must understand that the way to tap into the blessings of God is to speak the desires of your heart out of your mouth with an abundance of faith. After the word has been spoken, never change your confession. Remain steadfast and continue to thank and praise God for what he has done and watch God go to work on your behalf by His Spirit to bring forth the desire that you have spoken out of your mouth.
You become a failure statistic when you consistently speak negativity out of your mouth. Some people complain about every thing. They sow negative and destructive words into the lives of their children, relatives, co-workers friends and even persons they do not know. We gossip and discuss things that should never come out of our mouths. In anger, we say things to people we love never once realizing the effect it has on the other person’s life.
If you cannot say something positive about another person, do not say anything. The same words that you may speak in anger or frustration will one day come back to haunt you. You will reap the harvest of every word that is sown out of your mouth.
Your success in life can be measured by the words that you speak each day. How much success are you affirming each day. When the temporary storms of life come roaring in, are you able to stand still in your heart and speak victory in the midst of the storm? Your words determine your lifestyle. Your words determine the outcome of every battle that you face in life. Your words determine whether you receive healing for your body or remain sick. Your words determine whether you will remain poverty stricken or walk into the abundance promised by God.
Your life today is the sum total of all of the words that you have spoken out of your mouth. You have become what you have been speaking year after year. Success and failure is in the power of the tongue. Did you understand that the tongue which is used to form words when you change your speaking, your living will change.
God wants to give you the desires of your heart but it must be spoken out of your mouth. The universe will always take you at your word. It’s time to start speaking positive words. Speak only what you want. Speak the thing you want to see happen in your life and watch God go to work to bring it to pass.
