The Ferguson Police Department has decided to delay the release of the officer who fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown. The department said yesterday that the name would be released during a news conference at 12 noon today, but a spokesperson for Ferguson Police now say that the officer will not be identified at this time.

Protesters have been calling for the release of the officer’s name since the day that the unarmed teen was gunned down.

No additional information regarding a timetable as to when the police will release the identity of the officer, but Ferguson Police told KSDK that the delay comes in the wake of threats made towards the officer on social media.

Information from KSDK.com contributed to this report.
