A Michael Brown memorial on Canfield Drive was destroyed by a fire Tuesday morning.

The memorial was located just a few feet from where Brown was fatally shot by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson on Saturday, August 9.

The memorial would subsequently be a starting or ending point for several demonstrations during weeks of unrest that Brown’s death incited.

According to KMOV.com, Firefighters controlled the flames with extinguishers.

There has been no further information given regarding the source of the blaze.
