Nicole Woodie

How has your previous position, as Deputy Finance Director for Robin Carnahan, prepared you to work with the St. Louis Rams?

Working in politics prior to starting with the Rams really provided me with a breadth of knowledge on the political landscape, challenges and successes that face the St. Louis community which has proven invaluable in my current role. Not being from St. Louis, my campaign work really entrenched me in this city and made me invested in the success and wellbeing of the region. It also well prepared me to effectively have conversations with stakeholders and members of the community to assess their needs and find strategic solutions that connect people and organizations to a common goal. And of course, it also prepared me for working long, irregular hours; there is never an off day in political campaigns.

With the Rams, you’ve worked your way up from an intern to your current role as Community Outreach and Player Involvement Manager. What personal attributes would your co-workers and managers say have led to your rapid progress?

I think my manager would attribute my success to my relentless work ethic, an intense passion for our community and my belief that we have an incredible platform to do good. I think many of my coworkers would attribute my success to my meticulous follow through, especially as it relates to my communication on interdepartmental projects, my ability to form strong business relationships with our players and my initiation of new ideas and projects to always try to find different ways we can impact the community and strengthen the organization.

When you leave the office, and you look back on your day, what gives you the greatest sense of satisfaction?

The fact that every day I am doing something that will have an impact on somebody else’s life and this region, whether that is big or small. It is extremely satisfying that on a daily basis I am working to bring smiles to people’s faces. Just as satisfying is the fact that I work for an organization who embraces the responsibility and role of being a great community partner and that every day I am empowered to seek opportunities to expand our impact and touch more lives.

There’s obviously been a lot of talk in the news about the Rams and their future in St. Louis. What keeps you motivated personally?

Our day to day focus remains on being a great community partner. There are still many needs in this community and it is motivating to me to know that we have the ability to deliver on those needs and make the bi-state region a better place. Not to mention we have a locker room full of 60 plus players that inspire me every day with their generosity and desire to use their position and blessings for good.
