Resource Specialist

TD Ameritrade

In short, what do you do?

Currently, I have recently transitioned to TD Ameritrade as a Resource Specialist – essentially serving as a subject matter expert and handling complex and escalated issues for retail clients and fellow associates. As a licensed broker, I also serve in placing trades, educating clients/associates on a variety of investment related topics and assisting clients in reaching their financial goals.

Your responsibilities also center around mentorship and engagement of other team members. Has leadership always come naturally to you?

Prior to the TD Ameritrade acquisition, I had the opportunity to serve in leadership roles within Scottrade’s Young Professional Council as well as our associate-driven engagement teams at a departmental level. With that said, I believe that leadership is a skill that you must continue to strive for and develop. What does come natural is an inclination and passion to help others and make a difference in people’s lives. No one gets anywhere alone, and I believe that the opportunities, knowledge, and blessings that you receive in life are not for you to keep, but to give for the benefit of others. Ultimately, my pursuit of leadership opportunities and growth has centered around being able to leverage this ideology so that I can have a larger positive impact in the lives of others

As a St. Louis native, what has kept you in town when many young professionals choose to leave for larger job markets?

Loyalty and love! St. Louis is a great place with incredibly talented individuals and a city with phenomenal potential to grow and develop. Unfortunately, some young professionals may have to, or willingly choose to leave for whatever reason. However, I believe that you can always reach back and find ways to contribute and build your hometown.

Tell us about your leadership roles with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and the St. Louis Regional Chamber.

I serve with the Urban League as a young professional member and hold a position as the VP of Finance on our executive committee.  As a member of the executive committee, the Vice President of Finance is responsible for the supervision of all ULYP financial accounting reporting requirements, and management of financial resources for the chapter.

My involvement with the St. Louis Chamber consists of serving as a committee member for Economic Development and Fiscal Policy which discusses business climate policies and opportunities for the creation, recruitment and expansion of business in our region, including tax policies that enhance our region’s global competitiveness, facilitate investment, and drive job creation. In addition to this I am also a member of the Education Attainment & Talent Development committee, which discusses policies that can increase educational attainment and improve workforce readiness for students and workers that are entering or re-entering the workforce.

Both the ULYP of Metro St. Louis and The St. Louis Chamber are organizations that are ultimately contributing to the growth, development and well-being of the city I love and I am incredibly proud to be involved in serving within both in whatever capacity I can.
