The senior track standout closed out a brilliant career by winning two state championships at the IHSA Class 3 state meet in Charleston, Ill.
Henderson won the shot put and discus for the fourth consecutive year. She won the shot put with a state record throw of 50 feet 9 ½ inches. Henderson’s winning throw in the discus was 156 feet 7 inches. Henderson’s efforts powered the Tigers to a second-place finish in the Class 3 team standings
A two-sport standout at Edwardsville, Henderson also graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer in basketball. She led the Tigers to a runner-up finish in the Class 4A state tournament as a junior and a 32-1 record as a senior.
Henderson will attend the University of Louisville, where she will compete in both track and basketball for the Cardinals.
