The 6’3” senior guard was named the Most Valuable Player of the Webster Classic after leading the Blue Devils to the championship last weekend.
Hagens averaged 21 points a game in Maplewood’s three victories of Lafayette, Lee’s Summit and Marquette in the tournament.
He scored a game-high 23 points in Maplewood’s 42-20 victory over Marquette in the championship game. He had 20 points in the semifinals against Lee’s Summit and 21 points in the Blue Devils’ first-round victory over Lafayette.
For the season, Hagens is averaging 18.8 points a game. He is a three-year starter at Maplewood.
Hagens was also a three-year starter for the Blue Devils’ football team as a quarterback, leading Maplewood to the Class 2 state quarterfinals.
