Mario McKinney, Vashon – Boys Basketball 

The outstanding senior guard finished his stellar career by leading the Wolverines to the Class 3 state championship last weekend in Springfield.

The 6’2” McKinney scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 70-47 victory over Charleston in the state semifinals. He followed up with 23 points and six rebounds in a 69-59 victory over Springfield Catholic in the state championship game.

A University of Missouri recruit, McKinney has been a big part of three state championship teams during his four year varsity career at Vashon.

Yuri Collins, St. Mary’s – Boys Basketball

The senior standout continued his tremendous postseason run by leading the Dragons to a Final Four berth in the Class 4 state tournament. 

The 5’11” Collins scored 31 points in a victory over Cape Girardeau Central in the state quarterfinals. He also had 37 points and 10 assists in a victory over Hillsboro in the sectional playoffs.

For the season, Collins is averaging 22 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. He is headed to Saint Louis University in the fall.
