St. Louisan Caleb Love had a very productive showing in the recent National Basketball Association Summer League with the Portland Trailblazers.

The former CBC All-American averaged 15.8 points a game in his five Summer League contests. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 35 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free throw line.

A 6’2” guard, Love enjoyed his best all-around performance on July 15 when he had 17 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals while making three 3-pointers in a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. He also had 18 points, six rebounds and two assists with four of seven shooting from 3-point range in a victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Love scored more than 2,700 points during his collegiate career at North Carolina and Arizona. In 2022, he helped lead North Carolina to a berth in the NCAA Tournament National Championship game.

Love transferred to Arizona for his final two collegiate seasons. He was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2024. In his final season at Arizona, he averaged 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals in leading the Wildcats to a Sweet 16 berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Love was not selected in the recent NBA Draft, but he was able to sign a two-way contract with the Trailblazers.
