It was a great week of holiday tournament action around the St. Louis metro area. Here is a recap of what was an exciting week of holiday high school hoops, which featured a showdown of two of the area’s top teams, McCluer North and O’Fallon, in Southern Illinois.
Centralia
McCluer North’s B.J. Young scored 31 points to lead the Stars past O’Fallon 62-58 in the championship game of the Centralia Tournament last Thursday night in a battle of powerhouse teams. McCluer North became the first team from outside the state of Illinois to in the championship in the 68-year history of the Centralia Tournament. The Stars remained unbeaten at 11-0 while the Panthers fell to 11-2. O’Fallon standout Roosevelt Jones had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers.

Meramec
Hazelwood Central 74 DeSmet 43: The top-seeded Hawks rolled to the Meramec title with a balanced offense, led by senior Jordan Wilson’s 17 points. The Hawks rolled through St. Charles West, University City and Vianney to win its second Meramec title.

Chaminade
Chaminade 70 Pattonville 59: All-American guard Bradley Beal scored a game-high 34 points to lead the Red Devils past a pesky Pirate team. Chaminade wins its own tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
MICDS
Parkway South 44 Miller Career Academy 42: Center Tom Holaway scores 25 points to lead undefeated Patriots, including two last-second free throws to win the game. The Patriots remain undefeated at 10-0.
Normandy
Cardinal Ritter 75 McCluer South-Berkeley 56: Ritter’s Cameron Biedscheid averages 31 in the tournament, including 34 points in the championship game.

Belleville East 71 Springfield Southeast 64: Sophomore guard Malcolm Hill scores a game-high 26 points and takes home tourney MVP honors in the process. East wins its second tournament of the year.
Mater Dei
Mater Dei 48 Breese Central: An overflow crowd watched the Knights remain undefeated at 13-0 with a victory over its cross-town rivals.
Seckman
Francis Howell North 45 Summit 41: Knights enter tournament winless, but come away with three wins and a championship trophy.
Poplar Bluff
Soldan 74 Tupelo 52: Tigers roll to tournament title as Paul McRoberts scores 23 points and Randy Holmes scores 20. The Tigers have not lost since dropping their opening game to University City in the first-round of the Borgia Thanksgiving Tournament.

Crossroads 50 Priory 45: Freshman standout Trevor Clay scores a game-high 21 points to lead the Current to the championship.
