The senior guard led the Cougars to the Class 3, District 5 championship last week with three sparkling performances.
The 6’2” Brookins had 28 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Cougars’ 62-51 victory over Maplewood in the championship game. In the semifinals, he had 26 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in a 59-57 victory over Lift for Life. Brookins also had 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a 68-50 victory over Carnahan in the first round.
For the season, Brookins is averaging 19.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 54 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3-point range. Carnahan faced Northwest Academy in the Class 3 sectionals playoffs on Wednesday night.
