Johari Dix, Greenville University – Men’s Basketball

The junior guard from Chicago led Greenville to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic College (SLIAC) Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The 5’8” Dix had 26 points, four rebounds and eight assists in the Tigers’ 126-119 victory over Blackburn in the championship game. In the semifinals, Dix had 26 points, four rebounds and seven assists in a 125-112 victory over Westminster.

For the season, Dix is averaging 20 points, 5.4 assists and 2.7 steals a game while shooting 47 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.

Ariel Jackson, Lindenwood University – Women’s Track and Field

The junior sprinter was one of the Lions’ three individual champions at last weekend’s MIAA Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Jackson won the MIAA championship in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.29 seconds. She also earned All-Conference honors by finishing second in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.54 seconds. Jackson also ran a leg on the Lions’ 4×400-meter relay team that finished in seventh place.

Jackson’s winning performances earned her a berth at the NCAA Division II National Championships, also taking place in Pittsburg, Kansas at Pittsburg State University on March 9-10.
