Former Hazelwood Central standout Alex Tyus scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Florida to a 83-74 overtime victory over BrighamYoung in the NCAA Southeast Regional semifinals in New Orleans.
The 6’8″ Tyus enjoyed one of the best games of his career as he made eight of nine from the field. He also had two assist and one blockedshot.
Florida will face Butler on Saturday in the regional finals for a berth
in the Final Four next weekend in Houston.
Former Gateway Tech standout Jesse Perry had five points and six rebounds to help the Arizona Wildcats stun No. 1 seed Duke 93-74 in the semifinals of the West Regional in Anaheim, CA.
Arizona will face Connecticut in the West Regional final on Saturday for a berth in the Final Four.
