Former Hazelwood Central basketball standout Alex Tyus has signed a contract to play professionally with Maccabi Ashdod of the Israeli Loto League.
The 6’8″ Tyus was a three-year starter at the University of Florida. As a senior, Tyus averaged 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds in helping the Gators to the Elite Eight of the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Tyus was one of the top players at the Portsmouth Invitational Pre-Draft Camp in Virginia. He averaged 13 points and nine rebounds a game during the camp.
