William Franklin

The former Vashon High football standout enjoyed the most productive day of his college career in Mizzou’s 47-7 season-opening victory over Murray State on September 2.

Known as “The Helicopter,” Franklin caught four passes for 138 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Tigers’ rout. He opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 60-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Chase Daniel. He added a 34-yard touchdown reception to close the scoring in the first half. He added two receptions for 30 yards in the Tigers’ 27-7 victory over Mississippi last Saturday.

The 6’2” 205-pound Franklin is expected to be one of the Tigers’ big-play weapons throughout the 2006 season. As a sophomore in 2005, Franklin had 40 receptions for 413 yards and two touchdowns.

A 2004 graduate of Vashon, Frankin was a member of the St. Louis “All-American” Football All-Star team as well as a member of Vashon’s 31-0 basketball team that won the Missouri Class 4 state championship.
