Janoris Jenkins

A dead body was found in the basement of the New Jersey home of Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

According to SI.com, police are reportedly investigating a possible strangulation or suffocation as the cause of death at the Fair Lawn, N.J. residence.

Jenkins has been in Florida since the team broke for summer. ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported Jenkins and the Giants are aware of the situation.

The body has been identified as Roosevelt Rene, a 25-year-old who is considered a “family friend of the residents,” according to a statement released by Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

Jenkins, 29, is entering his seventh season in the NFL and his third with New York. He was drafted in the second round in 2012 by the Rams.
