The St. Louis Cardinals will hold a press conference at 12:30 p.m. Friday about the resignation of Cardinals President Mark Lamping and will appoint Bill DeWitt, III to take over Lamping’s position.

Bill DeWitt III, is currently the team’s Senior Vice President for Business Development.

Lamping, who led the charge to build the new Busch Stadium, will be the new CEO of the Meadowlands Stadium Company. He will be in charge of a $1.5 billion stadium project that will be home to both the world champion New York Giants and the New York Jets of the NFL.

Lamping, a Vianney graduate and lifelong Cardinals fan, worked for the Cardinals for 13 years and was a part of a very successful run that included two national league pennants and a World Series championship.

As president, Lamping was responsible for the hiring of General Manager Walt Jocketty.
