Sports fans in St. Louis like to have a “face” of their teams.
The Cardinals have Albert Pujols and Tony La Russa.
The Blues have team president John Davidson.
Saint Louis University has coach Rick Majerus.
Now, the Rams have decided on the “face” of their organization.
It’s not owner Chip Rosenbloom. It’s not head coach Jim Haslett. It’s not even Tory Holt, one of the few links we have from the glory days of the Rams.
Instead, the Rams have Richie Incognito as their face.
No he is not the best player at his position. He has not been to the Pro Bowl nor does he do much that is noticeable in the community.
But he currently is a reflection of the current state of the St. Louis Rams.
He is a Class A loser in every sense of the word.
I am sure you have heard of his recent antics. Everything from taking bad penalties to playing so poorly that his quarterbacks pay by picking themselves up off the ground repeatedly.
Let’s throw in for good measure Incognito’s penchant for antagonizing what few fans the Rams have left. With that said, he is the poster child of everything that is wrong with the Rams; under-talented, lacking intelligence and flat out unprofessional.
Why do the Rams continue to condone his actions? There has been no fine, no suspension, no inactive list, not anything.
There are some in the franchise that defend this clown by saying “he’s not having that bad of a season” or “he’s just being Richie.”
Why does he still have a job? Why is there such patience for a person that is not worthy of any fan paying to support?
The more that I think about it, I wonder why should this guy be put out of his misery by releasing him?
Why shouldn’t this buffoon sit through it like all the rest of us? I say he should stay. Let him work through practice, and go through the pre-game warm-up and then deactivate him for the game.
I would even consider dressing him for the game, have him in one play and then take him out to sit for the rest of the day.
Ok I would have to dress one more guard than I normally would. Hey, the Rams are 2-9 and staring 2-14 in the face.
Who cares at this point? I said this some time ago that Rich Incognito is an embarrassment – a big mouth who, when lined up against a better player, has nothing other than trying to cheap shot him.
Oh yeah, let’s not forget that element. He is a cheap, dirty player that has no business in football.
Haslett is slowly coaching himself out of a job.
He is losing his team as quickly as the stock market is losing value.
It’s almost too late, Jim. The toothpaste is out of the tube.
In coaching football, one has to understand that players want discipline. When you hear the term “players coach” it means that he is just soft enough on them for them to get him fired.
Tony Dungy, Bill Belichick and other good ones know how far to go with guys. They don’t have to yell and scream.
They don’t even need a whistle for practice. They also know how to cut the cancer out of a team.
This is a lesson the Rams have yet to learn. Instead, they make the cancer the “face” of the team.
This year for Thanksgiving the Rams will have an Incognito instead of turkey on the table.
While they are nearly identical, the one without a voice might be tougher.
The other is as soft on the outside as he is on the inside.
If he could just play a little, I think we would be more lenient. Such is not the case here.
