According to Espn.com, Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Friday he’s concerned about the playing status of wide receiver Roy Williams. Williams is still recovering from three bruised ribs, suffered Oct. 4 at Denver. Yet, Williams said he expects to play.

But Phillips said Williams is in pain, even when he catches a pass in practice, and that the receiver would have to wear protective padding over his injured ribs if he were to play Sunday.

Williams was listed as probable on the injury report, released today (Fri., Oct. 23). When told of Phillips’ concern, including the possibility of extra padding, Wiliams shrugged his shoulders and declined comment.

Williams has had two weeks to get healthy since the injury. He missed the Kansas City game on Oct. 11, and last week was a bye week.

If Williams doesn’t start, the Cowboys are expected to keep Patrick Crayton as a starter, along with Miles Austin.
