Some of the nation’s top basketball players will be on display this Saturday at the 11th Annual Lions Choice / American Airlines National High School Basketball Game, which is presented by the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation. The game will be held at Harris- Stowe State University, beginning at 7 p.m. It will match some of the top players in the St. Louis metropolitan area against a group of National All-Stars from around the country. Fans of the local schools Saint Louis University and the University of Missouri will get a first look at seeing their future players in the St. Louis area. Saint Louis U. recruits Femi John, Ruben Cotto and Willie Reed will be playing for the local team while guard Kwamain Mitchell will play for the National All-Stars. The National All-Stars will feature future Missouri Tigers Marcus Denmon, Steve Moore, who are both from the Kansas City area as well as guards Kim English (Savannah, Ga.), Miguel Paul (Lakeland, Fla.) and forward Laurence Bowers from Tennessee. The National All-Stars have a 7-3 edge in the series, although the local All-Stars won the 2007 game last year 134-126 at Harris-Stowe. The St. Louis metro All-Stars were led by former Belleville West standout Jeremy Felton’s 26 points. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the game.
