The senior first baseman has been one of the area’s top hitters in leading the Jaguars to a first-place showing in the Public High League.
Latimore is currently hitting a robust .652 with one home run, 13 runs batted in, eight extra base hits and 13 stolen bases. In two PHL victories last week, Latimore went four-for-six with a home run, four RBI’s and five runs scored.
In the Jaguars’ 11-0 victory over Sumner, Latimore was two for two with a home run, two RBI’s and two runs scored. He followed up with a two-for-four performance against Roosevelt with a double, triple, two RBI’s and three runs scored to lead Gateway Tech to a 14-4 victory.
As a junior, Latimore led Gateway Tech to the PHL title in 2007. He batted .667 with seven home runs and 35 RBI’s and 14 stolen bases.

Girls Track
The sophomore sprinter is one of the top performers for one of the area’s top young girls’ track and field teams.
Washington took home four first-place medals from last weekend’s Dale Collier Invitational at Kirkwood. She won the 400-meter dash in 58.59 seconds, then ran a leg on Ritter’s 4×100-, 4×200-, and 4×400-meter relay teams that finished in first place against some top large-school competition.
It marked the second week in succession that Washington took home four first-place medals from a meet. She accomplished the same feat at the Corey Siebert Invitational at Rockwood Summit the previous week.
As a freshman, Washington took home two All-State medals from the Class 3 state championships in Jefferson City. She finished seventh in the 200 and eighth in the 400 to earn All-State recognition.
