Standout prep football player Ezekiel Elliott of John Burroughs has given a verbal commitment to The Ohio State University.

The 6’0” 200-pound junior running back committed to the Buckeyes about a month after receiving the scholarship offer from new head coach Urban Meyer.

Elliott chose Ohio State after receiving nearly two dozen offers from schools such as Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Georgia and many others.

Elliott was the St. Louis American Small Schools Player of the Year after a huge junior year in which he led the Bombers to a berth in the Missouri Class 3 state-championship game.

As a junior, Elliott scored a total of 42 touchdowns. He rushed for 1,802 yards and 34 touchdowns. He had 23 receptions for 401 yards and six more touchdowns. He also had two kick returns for touchdowns.

Elliott is also one of the top track and field athletes in the state of Missouri. As a sophomore, he won the Class 3 state title in the 110-meter high hurdles at the Missouri State Championships in Jefferson City. He also won the Amateur Athletic Union national title in the 400-meter hurdles during the summer track season while running for the St. Louis Express Track Club.
