After a day off today, Jeff Suppan looks to continue two pitching streaks when the Cardinals open a three-game set Tuesday night against the NL East-leading Mets at Busch Stadium.
In the Redbirds’ last three games, each of the starters has worked at least six innings and allowed two runs or fewer, compiling a 2-0 record and 1.35 ERA in 20 innings. Overall, the Cardinals’ 3.86 starters’ ERA ranks second in the National League.
Led by Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavine, the Mets’ 23-14 record leads the NL East. They are a half-game behind the Cardinals for the best record in the National League.
The right-hander will oppose Glavine, a hurler working on his own winning streak. One of the top pitchers in the game this season, the left-hander has won his last three starts.
