More than 140 golfers are expected to tee off at the Grand Marais Golf Course in Centreville, Ill., on Friday, May 19 as they participate in the St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament, which is being sponsored by the President Casino on the Landing, as well as Sodexho School Services.

Tee time is 8 a.m., and golfers will spend the day playing 18 holes of golf. While attendance prizes and awards will be given to tournament participants, the real purpose of the event is to raise money for the Gateway Classic’s educational scholarship program.

“The Gateway Classic is proud of the fact that we have spent more than $1.9 million for scholarships for deserving students,” said Earl Wilson Jr., President of the Foundation. “So while the tournament is a fun-filled day of golf, barbeque and prizes, it also serves as a fundraiser for the organization. We want to continue to give back and support our youth through sports programs and college scholarships. This tournament helps us do that.”
