The St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation, in conjunction with American Airlines and Hardee’s will honor more than 75 high school athletes from the greater metropolitan St. Louis area at its High School Athletic Awards Banquet.
The High School Athletic Awards Banquet is at noon Saturday, May 6 at the St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Complex, 2012 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The event is to honor athletes from the St. Louis Metropolitan area and special awards will be presented to the following athletes in the following categories:
Girls Basketball Most Valuable Player: Felecia Chester, Incarnate Word
Boys Basketball Most Valuable Player: Bobby Hill, Vashon High School
Football Defensive Most Valuable Player: Antonio Gully, Cardinal Ritter College Prep
Football Offensive Most Valuable Player: E.J. Jones, Edwardsville High School
Female Scholar Athlete of the Year: Brittany Noel, Jennings High School
Male Scholar Athlete of the Year: James Washington III, Vashon High School;
Athlete of the Year: E.J. Jones, Edwardsville High School.
A presentation for coach of the year will be made to Antwyne Golliday of Cahokia High School.
St. Louis American Sports Editor Earl Austin will serve as the master of ceremonies and Saint Louis University’ Women’s coach Shimmy Gray will give the keynote address to the athletes.
